Basement Finishing: is drywall the best Fisher1009 Posted in General Discussion on 05:58am Hi everyone-I searched the archives for threads about fninishing basements, and there is a lot of information framing and drywalling a basement to protect from moisture/mold. Our high-impact gypsum board solutions are just another way in which USG Corporation supports and provides for our customers. Annex A1 describes test methods for testing impact-resistant sheetrock and other products for Hard Body Impact Resistance.ĪSTM C1629 makes reference to three other test methods for abuse resistance: ASTM E695 for Soft Body Impact, ASTM D4977 for Abrasion resistance, ASTM D 5420 for Indentation Resistance. The main ASTM standard for abuse classification is ASTM C1629 which specifies the levels of performance. Outstanding Life Cycle cost performanceĭue to high demand of these abuse-resistant gypsum board products and systems, testing standards were developed and revised to reflect industry requirements. ToughRock Basement Drywall Board is designed for use in interior wall and ceiling applications and offers enhanced protection against mold exposure that.Walls can handle dynamic building movement.Wall cavities are available for electrical and plumbing systems.Easy and fast installation, leading to faster building occupancy.USG offers two types of impact-resistant drywall panels that provide moderate abuse resistance and two types of panels that provide high levels of abuse resistance. This is achieved through higher wallboard density and the presence of fiber mesh embedded in the backside of the wallboard. USG’s abuse-resistant drywall portfolio includes enhanced panels with up to five times the impact resistance of regular wallboard. ![]()

![]() ![]() The label is hardly visible, so that won’t be much of an issue if you just want to enjoy the free software. Before upgrading, all your content will have a watermark in it. Both platforms provide free trials and subscriptions. You will need an account for that on top of your Camtasia account. The app allows you to transfer your projects to Screencast and edit them there. It may complicate your drivers, but this is different for every user. Make sure you uncheck the reboot box when prompted by the app. The initial startup may take a while, depending on your computer’s capacity. For devices with less than 6GB of RAM, using CS can slow down your other applications. The older your video card is, the longer it will take. It doesn’t work as well as NVENC encoding. This Camtasia Studio download uses your CPU for its rendering process, so that relies heavily on your graphics card. Enhance your own voice with the narration device and make it the only soundtrack of your project. The noise removal tool gets rid of background noise and unfocused voices. It doesn’t have many functions, but it does let you better control your soundtrack. You can edit each of them as an entire project.Ĭamtasia Studio comes with a built-in audio editor. One for your talking head and one is the actual content. ![]() Another cool thing when using this is that Camtasia can split the recorded file into two separate tracks. Use the picture-in-picture mode to create a video showing your instructions on screen. When you’re doing a tutorial or game session, and you want the audience to see your expressions, CS can help with that. Make necessary preparations like ratio adjustments or screen lock before you record. It helps you set up your screen before starting. One of the most useful features Camtasia has is the mini toolbar that pops out in record mode. You can capture your whole screen or just a part of it. This is useful for business and personal projects. Recording your screen is the main purpose of CS, so it’s super easy to do. That puts a limit on your creativity as you’d have to find ways to not make your videos look like a default. You can only customise certain effects up to some degree. One thing is that they’re all fundamental. The effects work well, and their implementations are also smooth. Make them dance or splash into a title with the behavior tool. You can also customise the texts in your clip. These involve a lot of colours and shadowing that give your content a custom atmosphere. If you want extra enhancement for your video, there are some visual effects you can play with. It has all the popular transitions, including the blur and pixelate. With this tool, you can decide how each of your scenes comes into view. There are also many transitional effects to choose from. Each effect comes with customisable layouts like colors and density. Add clarifying texts or subtitles to your video with the annotations tool. Make your clips spin or fade into view with the opacity and tilt animations. The ones it does have are still good and will fulfil most of your small projects’ needs. Since Camtasia caters to new and intermediate users, you won’t find a large selection of special effects. Videos exported from the free trial version will contain the Camtasia Studio watermark. This gives you a chance to fully test the software and see if it’s right for you. During this trial, you’re able to access all the same features as you would in the full version. Is Camtasia Studio free?Ĭamtasia Studio is not a free program, but it does have a free trial. You will want to learn all the technical terms first. One slight setback to learning by yourself is that the buttons don’t have clear instructions on them. So, if you’re not keen on watching tutorials, it wouldn’t take long to figure everything out. Other programs, such as OBS Studio or Filmora Video Editor, can do the same thing, but not as easily as CS. It’s an inherent mechanic that lets you combine multiple clips into one video. So, you can try all the game-changing features such as the overlapping media. The good thing about Camtasia is that the free version contains every function of the original one. Keep in mind that if you’re using the free trial, there will be a watermark on your content until you upgrade. Use CS for anything from YouTube videos and tutorials to gaming sessions. Creative projects made simpleĬamtasia records your entire screen, so the range of content you can create is extensive. There’s a voice-over function that lets you narrate your process. You can also enhance your videos with special effects or annotations with the easy to use tools. Use this app to record activities on your screen for demonstration or promotional purposes. Camtasia Studio by TechSmith is a video and screen recorder for Windows that captures your screen or webcam. ![]() ![]() Please be advised that this does require great eyesight and an excellent viewpoint. The Copperhead has a yellow eye with a black vertical and elliptical pupil, similar to that of a cat’s eye. EyesĮye pupil shape is a very easy way of identifying not only copperheads but also most venomous snakes in South Carolina, except for the coral snake. The bite is last resort to defend itself from an animal much larger than itself and which it certainly doesn’t see as a potential meal. Even though you may have never noticed any of the prior warnings, all the snake knows is that he gave you all warnings to stay away and that you still persisted. Get even closer, and the copperhead will lift its head to show you it’s ready to bite if you keep provoking. As you get closer, the copperhead will start to shake, or “rattle,” its tail to resemble a rattlesnake. As you get closer, it will curl up into its camouflage pile, blending in with fallen leaf litter on the ground. When walking through potential copperhead habitat, the snake will likely spot you first and may try to move away. A copperhead bite typically occurs when it’s least expected, after several attempts to discourage you, the “predator” from coming close. When curled up, their camouflage resembles a pile of fallen leaves this helps them remain hidden from potential predators – including you. Keep in mind that the hourglass shapes can occasionally “mismatch” and seem like they disconnect from the complete shape, especially towards the tail.Īdult venomous ‘Southern copperhead’ snake, Agkistrodon contortrix, as it was coiled in its natural Coastal South Carolina environment.Ĭopperheads are not aggressive, nor do they go out of their way to bite humans or other unsuspecting bystanders. ![]() To put it simply, the top of the hourglass touches the left side of the body, the bottom of the hourglass touches the right side of the body. The hourglass shape lays somewhat “sideways” on the copperhead’s back the wider portion of the shape starts on one side of the body, thins towards the middle-top edge of the back (closest to the spine), and then widens back out to the opposite side of the snake. ![]() Parts of the pattern of the copperhead resemble an hourglass and is one of the most diagnostic traits of all. These wider parts of the head allow for space to fit the snake’s fangs and venom glands. Some people call it an “arrowhead-shaped” head. Since the copperhead is a pit viper, you’ll notice a very distinctive triangular-shaped head. ![]() An adult copperhead’s average length ranges between 2 to 3 feet but can reach 4 feet. ![]() The copperhead gets its name from the coppery-tan color found mainly on its head and throughout parts of its body down to the tail. There are several ways to differentiate the copperhead from these two similar-looking species, but first, let’s start with a description of the copperhead. The two most common non-venomous snake species that are mistaken for the copperhead are the corn snake and the northern water snake. Many of these phone calls and emails result in the suspect snake being a similar looking, non-venomous snake with characteristics that are hard to distinguish from the copperhead. The hourglass shape lays somewhat “sideways” on the copperhead’s back the wider portion of the shape starts on one side of the body, thins towards the middle-top edge of the back (closest to the spine), and then widens back out to the opposite side of the snake.Įvery year, I receive a plethora of phone calls and emails asking me 1) to identify whether a snake is a copperhead and 2) what should I do with it. ![]() ![]() ![]() Now this is almost the best part about the sensor. The stock wires that came with my build should be long enough for up to a 400 size machine, for those with a 500 you will likely need to extend them. What will change is the input pins you need to assign in the firmware stage! Wire the sensor as per the table shown below. The BLTouch connectors all have the follow pin out shown above. ![]() Now RatOS supports a lot of boards these days and although I have only tested this on the Mellow Super 8 It should be applicable to the others because they almost all have a BLTouch connector! Note that 5V can also be used so long as the controller input pins are also tied to 5v. The sensors come with a pre-crimped wire that should follow the wiring convention below. (There is a video from the Orbiter channel here) Once it reaches the correct position it should audibly click into place. There is a vertical slot that the side of the board should go into. Take it back out, check if your print needs cleaned up anywhere and check the angle/alignment. The fit is tight but if you feel like you are having to force it in. The board is then slid into the housing – You need to be both careful yet firm with this operation. Install one of the ball bearings into the round cavity near the filament outlet. Now at this point I need to apologise because I got too excited and just installed everything without taking photos! Credit for the images below has been added below each image. RatOS doesn’t support this out of the box but it is very easy to install and I have tested that the provided macros run nicely alongside all the other wonderful RatOS functionality! Keep reading for how to install in specifically on RatOS Installationįirstly if using the V1.5 then you need to print the sensor housing (I suggest using black ABS) and the light guide ( CAD here, STLs here). So to summarise if you have an Orbiter extruder and are not running the filament runout sensor I think you are mad and should just go out and buy one! You won’t regret it. This is a more generic comment on the Orbiter extruder as I had the same experience loading and unloading filament before I had the sensor. I find that sometimes feeding the filament in it can get stuck and therefore miss the auto extrude portion of the macro while you fiddle to get the extruder gears to catch. Now the loading and unloading side of things isn’t quite so reliable. It has also never failed to pause a print when filament ran out and I am finally getting through the stupid number of nearly finished spools I had been hoarding! Since using it I haven’t had a single false trigger during printing. Sure you could add a generic filament sensor from any supplier but unless you mount it right on the extruder you can’t use up the very last bit of filament each time! Honestly this is one of those little quality of life improvements for a printer that once you have one you are never quite sure how you lived without it. The kit thankfully comes with a spare ball bearing which is handy for those who are clumsy like myself and promptly dropped and lost the 1st one! Review For those running V1.5 then you need to print your own! For those running the V2 then you get the SLS nylon housing included. The contents of the kit varies depending on which version you buy. Printed filament sensor housing (only applicable if your kit didn’t come with the SLS nylon part).Orbiter filament sensor kit (Buy the appropriate one for the version of the orbiter you have – this guide is showing it with V1.5).Trianglelab were kind enough to send me one to test! BOM The sensor is really nice, it adds very minimal addition drag onto the filament path, has a button to control loading and unloading while you are at your printer and a nice indicator LED to show the status of the sensor. Quite frankly I was done with babysitting the end of a roll. I’ve been a big fan of the Orbiter extruders (Massive shout out to Róbert Lőrincz for all his orbiter projects) for quite a while and I decided it was time to add filament runout sensors to all my printers. ![]() ![]() The main objective of our company is continuous quality assurance process and availability of services for different groups of clients.
